    Description

This is the massive hardcover coffee table books produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, which featured a variety of events at the Seattle Center, the original site of the world's fair. We're offering this single NEW copy discounted from the retail price to 40% off or just .00.and despite it weighing several pounds, it will ship book rate for just .00.The book was beautifully designed and written and while it's exactly the type of book that I and the History Bank produce, we were not involved other than fans of the production. I had a tiny role providing a variety of the collectibles pictured in the book and my family also had a small role in the fair itself.
My dad, a machinist, was in charge of what might be called emergency repairs. He was a one-man shop and worked nights so that if anything was an issue the goal was to have it repaired before the fair reopened in the morning. I was 10 and obviously at that age to love the fair and besides a great many daytime visits, I also could stay when the grounds closed and go on my dad's rounds with him in a little Cushman vehicle like a golf cart. What kid would not love being there when it was quiet and empty and you could wander everywhere. I'm sure my experiences there contributed to my long years of research and writing about world's fairs, including three books on the World's Columbian Exposition.
Copies of the two Columbian books we've written are both on Ebay right now and more will follow.Interestingly, my uncle--my dad's twin brother and an architect--designed one of the buildings at the fair. It wasn't a grand structure created for the Century 21 Space Age Exposition but rather a small two-story building he had designed several years earlier. It is shown in the picture above rom the book. During the fair it was used as fair headquarters. This book retails for .95 and is NEW; if you have interest in the Century 21 Expo you can't be without it.The History Bank is beginning to sell more books, those we've written and those we have been involved with or those we actually produced and published (but did not write).
